A WORD FROM OUR SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF DEVELOPMENT CLAIRE O’CONNOR-SOLOMON
As WEDU’s Senior VP of Development, I know one thing for certain: Everything we do is thanks to you and our other members. With your support, we’ve expanded our programming to include two new channels: WEDQ and WEDQ PBS KIDS. You’ve helped us present viewer favorites like Doc Martin, Father Brown and Midsomer Murders. You’re also a “producer” of our acclaimed local programming, including Florida This Week, the longest-running public affairs program in West Central Florida. I’m excited about bringing even more amazing programs and educational opportunities to our community – fueled by the ongoing generous support of friends like you.

Honoring Tampa Bay’s best: the WEDU Be More Awards
Our area is home to many amazing nonprofit organizations, and WEDU is proud to shine a spotlight on their work. Our 14th Annual WEDU Be More Awards, held on February 28 at the Bryan Glazer Family JCC in Tampa, recognized their outstanding efforts.
It was a truly special evening! There’s nothing as inspiring as people donating their time and efforts to make a difference in the lives of others. The 2019 winners include Children’s First (Nonprofit Organization of the Year), Crisis Center of Tampa Bay (Florida Blue Innovation Award), the Hispanic
Services Council (Judge’s Choice Award) and many other incredible organizations and individuals.
The Be More Awards are about much more than just a ceremony. They help raise awareness about important issues and let people in the community know there’s help if they need it. Our year-round promotional campaign also connects the organizations to crucial donors and volunteers. Learn more at wedu.org/bemore.
