A WORD FROM OUR CEO, JACK GIBSON
In case we haven’t told you lately, you are amazing. It’s thanks to you and our other members that we’ve aired so much exciting, educational and fun programming this year … and there’s so much more to come.
Last month, we welcomed Ken Burns back to AZPM with his newest film series, Country Music. If you missed it, don’t despair. You can still stream it anytime, anywhere, with AZPM Passport.
We’re also airing the fourth and final season of the The Durrells in Corfu every Sunday night at 8 p.m. on PBS 6. And we hope you’re enjoying all-new episodes of Nature, which airs every Wednesday evening at 8 p.m.
Three brand-new AZPM original documentaries will also grace your screen shortly. Wild Arizona! takes a close look at the balance between the species of the Arizona desert.
The Arizonans profiles influential individuals who have helped shape the history of our state. And an AZPM 60th Anniversary special will take a look back at 60 years of your favorite television and radio programs.
As we near the end of our 60th anniversary celebration, we thank you for your member support, which has allowed us to share amazing programs with our community for six decades. There’s still more celebrating to be done. Visit azpm.org for a list of upcoming events.
Thank you for your support of AZPM.
Poldark: The Final Season
We’re so excited to welcome Aidan Turner back to Masterpiece as the heroic Ross Poldark for one final season of intrigue and a farewell to the characters we’ve loved for five years.
Poldark has graced the AZPM screen for half a decade and captivated our viewers season after season. The characters have grown, and we’ve journeyed with them … and in this fifth and final season, fans of the series can look forward to the ups and downs of life in Cornwall.
Will Ross and Demelza find peace with a simple life among their friends and family, or will adventure and drama call them away as it always has? What does the future hold for George in the wake of Elizabeth’s death … and what will new characters bring to the mix as the series comes to its close?
Need to catch up? All five seasons of Poldark are available to stream anytime, anywhere, on AZPM Passport – a special member benefit available to those who give $60 or just $5/month as an AZPM Sustaining Member. Visit tv.azpm.org/passport to get AZPM Passport today!
College Behind Bars: A Second Chance at Life
Imagine earning your college diploma … while in prison.
Next month, AZPM will air College Behind Bars, a four-part film directed and produced by Lynn Novick that explores the world of higher education as experienced by incarcerated men and women.
Novick’s film explores how a group of young people who are serving time for serious, violent offenses are preparing to re-enter society for a second chance at life. It digs deep into their backgrounds, family histories, childhoods and the reasons for their convictions … and puts a spotlight on how the power of education is changing their lives.
In Novick’s own words, the film “challenges conventional wisdom about education and incarceration, and raises questions we urgently need to address. What ultimately is prison for? Who in America has access to educational opportunity? Who among us is capable of academic excellence? How can we break the cycle of recidivism? How can we have justice without redemption?”
Monday-Tuesday, November 25-26 at 9 p.m. on PBS 6.
