MARCH 2024
A WORD FROM OUR CEO, JACK GIBSON
With spring approaching, new and exciting things are coming to AZPM. We’re adding several new programs to our schedule to keep our members curious, informed, and entertained.
Some exciting news: Construction on The Baker Center for Public Media, which will house PBS and NPR in Southern Arizona, began in February. The new facility represents not just a physical expansion but a promise to better serve the region.
New episodes of original podcasts More than a Game, Fact Check Arizona, and AZPM News Daily and quarterly television specials New Frontiers and State of the ArtZ keep you up to date on what’s happening locally.
Brand-new MASTERPIECE premieres provide a dose of drama, while exciting Earth Day 2024 programs NOVA: Solar Eclipse and Changing Planet give you a broader view of our amazing world.
There’s one thing that isn’t new, and that’s your continued support. With your generosity, AZPM has remained a community resource you can always count on. For that, we thank you and look forward to a wonderful year with you by our side.
Every contribution makes a difference.
Reaching New Heights Together
Taking care of one another and celebrating community has been at the heart of AZPM’s work for over 60 years. As we construct a new, transformative media square, we reaffirm our commitment to the community by offering superior, editorially independent content.
Donors just like you are contributing to make the Paul & Alice Baker Center for Public Media a reality for Southern Arizona! The Baker Center is the new home for your local PBS, NPR, and Classical Music stations, as well as an entertainment and activity hub that will host public discussions, screenings, presentations, and other community-building events. Construction on the facility began in February, and our excitement can’t be contained much longer.
This beautiful new campus represents AZPM’s vision of a community engagement area taking center stage where all are welcome. This is all happening through the support of friends like you. Learn more and give now by visiting azpm.org/bridging.

Call the Midwife Returns
Everyone’s favorite midwives are returning for another season!
The heartwarming series has brought plenty of changes to the midwives of Poplar. Season 13 is no different, being set during a year of serious upheaval in Britain and around the world: 1969.
With the growing trend toward hospital births, maternity wards are overflowing. Poplar is coping better than most districts thanks to Nonnatus House’s efforts and the popularity of home births conducted under the Sisters’ supervision. As 1969 unfolds, a variety of challenges rock the world of our beloved nuns. We see them struggle with life’s eternal questions: Who are we? What is love? And where do we belong?
Premieres Sunday, March 17, at 7 p.m. on PBS 6. Watch this program live or stream with the PBS app.
